Reading
Students should read for at least 20 minutes each day at home. Reading takes practice and the more your child reads, the better reader they will become!
You can support your child's reading by helping them find books they are excited to read. Visit the library often (there are no late charges on children's accounts!), count down to the release date of the newest book in your child's favourite series, and listen attentively when talking about books your child is reading.
Children benefit greatly from listening to others read. Try having your child read to you, followed by you reading to them! Encourage your child to borrow a chapter book from our classroom library for you to read aloud or head to the public library to choose books together.

Word and Sound Practice
We will begin individualized word and sound study in October. Information about those programs will be provided at that time.
Practice Packs
If your child is experiencing difficulty, we will send practice activities home. In these cases, we will call you to discuss how we can work together to help your child meet the required outcomes.
SLEEP IS IMPORTANT. FAMILY TIME IS IMPORTANT. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IS IMPORTANT.
Please keep home practice relaxed and minimal so you enjoy your time with your children.
If you find the home activities to be overwhelming, please let me know!
